A. 4-5 months with 3-4 hours on working days and 6-7 hours on holidays
and weekends.
Q. Did you take up some

A. Yes, I did took up coaching but the motive was more to get in touch
with other MBA aspirants and the mock tests which gets your relative ranking.
Q. Can you tell us
which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance,
books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. Primarily, I used to read a lot of newspapers and magazines which not
only improved my English but also helped improve my General Kknowledge.
Other than this, I used to read a lot of management books and autobiography of
management leaders like Lee Iacoca.
"The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" and "You Can Win" (by Shiv Kheda) were also
among the books that I read during preparation time.
Q. What was your

helpful. IMS material is also very good. Though I could not attend much of the
classes there due to my work but overall it was a good experience.
Q. What are the others
books and tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. I read the coaching material thoroughly. For Quant, I used Arun Sharma
a little. For Vocab, Barrons GRE is the book.
Mock tests by IMS and few mocks from Time, Career Launcher as per time available
with me.
Q. What was your
strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Being an engineer, Quant and DI were my strong areas, and English was
on the weaker side relatively.
Q. Some tips which you
used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. For Quant and DI, cramming things like 30 x 30 tables, squares,
reciprocals helped along with lots of practice with trying to solve the same
problem in as many ways as I could.
For RC, I tried lots of techniques like skimming and scanning. Another technique
was to read the first and last paragraphs completely and the first and last line
of the other paragraphs. And of course a lot of practice with solving RC
pasaages on varied subjects.
Q. How much time did
you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working full
time?
A. 3-4 hours a day no matter how late I came from work. Generally, it was
10.00 to 2.00 in the night as I used to come late from work.
Q. Which all Exams and
B-schools you applied to?
A. CAT, FMS and XAT.
Q. Your present
B-school and course.
A. FMS, Delhi University; MBA (Management of Services).
Q. What procedures your
school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. 1. Application Form along with a Statement of Purpose
2. Written test
3. Selected candidates are called for GD and PI
There is an extempore as well in the Interview.
Q. What is the range of
score for students who are admitted?
A. FMS conducts its own exam and the score of that are not disclosed. The
calls for GD/PI are sent out based on the merit rankings obtained by the
candidate in the entrance test. Generally 500 out of 700 is considered to be a
good score for a GD/PI call.
Q. What was your score?
A. The scores are not disclosed at FMS. Though I had attempted around 170
questions out of 175 with atleast 85% accuracy (that's my assumption based on my
past scores in mock tests and the FMS paper level).
