or Group Exercise part of selection process?
A. Yes.
Q. The duration of
Group Discussion, size of the group, number of panelists, etc.
A. Duration: 15 minutes.
Size: 12 Candidates
No. of Penalists: 4
Q. What was your Group
Discussion topic?
A. "USA is the True Democracy"
Q. Tell us about your
Group Discussion experience?
A. It was for 15 minutes Group Discussion with 12 candidates. There was
chaos in between, but I tried to make only relevant points and made solid
entries 4-5 times. I gave some good quotes and dished out few historical facts
which made the group listen to me. That's about it.
Q. How was the
environment during discussion?
A. It started with someone starting the discussion and went on for quite
a time. But slowly the voice levels started increasing as everyone was trying to
make their presence felt. At around 5th minute of the discussion, a panelist had
to intervene to calm the group with a stern warning. After that the noise level
was pretty much controlled.
Q. Describe your
impression of the your team members and overall Group Discussion process?
A. The people who started and ended the discussion unfortunately could
not make it to the final selected list. There were 3 more people in my group who
made relevant points with conviction and are my class-mates at FMS. I think the
people who were trying to speak a lot and not necessarily the valid points lost
out.
Q. Some handy tips that
would be of great help.
A. One should try to speak points which are relevant to the given topic
and add value to the discussion. The frequency of entries are not that
important. What matters is your value addition to the topic. Try to come up with
as many perspective on the topic as possible. Read the newspapers and magazines
thoroughly. This gives you an edge and makes your contribution to the Group
Discussion valuable.
Q. Were there any set
norms of Group Discussion?
A. No.
