Background
Q. Can you tell
something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. I am B.Com. graduate from Sri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College,
Bangalore. After graduation, I co-founded an Internet start-up in 2002. Then, I
moved onto an engineering company as Deputy Supervisor. In 2003, I joined AXA in
their Pensions Division. Finally, I initiated a start-up supplying & servicing
commercial grade air-conditioners.
In 2006, I joined Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research,
Mumbai, to pursue my dream of doing an MBA.
I strongly believe that a person should pursue what he/she believes in. In life,
what separates the champions from the ordinary is not how you face success, but
how you stand-up after being beaten.
I enjoy reading books - Robin Cook & Ken Follet are my favorite authors. I also
read Management books as well as other genres, the last two books I have read
are 'How to think like the World's Greatest Masters of M&A' & 'Screw it, Lets do
it: Lessons in Life'.
Q. So when did you
decide to go for MBA?
A. In my 11th Standard, I decided to do my MBA. Initially, I was looking
forward to do an MBA in Marketing, but once I started working, I realized that
Finance is what I really like. After two years of working, I decided that I
should look at my MBA within the next two years. After having worked for 4
years, I joined an MBA programme.
Q. What was your first
step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. I did research into which were the good institutes who would satisfy
my requirements. I came up with a list of 13 institutes, then applied to all of
them. Then I joined Career Forum to help me with my preparation.
Q. Which MBA institutes
and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. IIMs (all 6), ICFAI - Hyderabad & Bangalore, NMIMS-Mumbai, SIBM-Pune,
XLRI-Jamshedpur, Alliance Business Academy, Bangalore, Welingkar Institute of
Management Development & Research, Mumbai.
