Interview-related Questions
Q. Date and location of
Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or
rescheduled couple of times.
A. April 23. Bangalore. Yes, we were given options to choose. Then it was
fixed and on schedule. We were given time slots, and the process went as per
these slots.
Q. Can you tell us
about the panel that interviewed you?
A. There were 2 panelists from the industry who were taking the
interview. Unable to recall which company they worked in.
Q. How long was your
interview?
A. About 25 minutes.
Q. What was the first
question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
A. Tell me something about yourself (1st question).
They asked me to take their interview for a marketing job. (Interesting
question, some may call it difficult but I had taken interviews for my start-up
so it was a breeze for me.)
Q. How did you prepare
for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel
prepared?
A. I just went through my CV, asked myself what questions I would ask if
I was in their position. I was confident; the interview was almost like a dream.
Q. Was any feedback
given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of
session?
A. No clear feedback was given.
Q. Did work experience
help in getting the choice of your school and also in dealing with the
curriculum?
A. Absolutely! My experience has made understanding the practical aspects
of the curriculum very easy. Connecting the theory to practice becomes so much
easier. It also helped me get a good institute.
Q. Getting into and
sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone
from Humanities background. Your comments please.
A. Well, it would be easier to get in for a Science Grad, but after that
it is the amount of effort you put in which matters. Students from Humanities
background tend to do well in HR.
Q. Will an MBA degree
add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career
in management?
A. I wanted to move into the financial services sector at a managerial
position. An MBA would help me make this transition as well as get the job I
desire.
Q. Why did you decide
to do MBA from this school?
A. It is among the top-15 B-schools in India and it is known to be
innovative with its curriculum and programmes. It also fits my requirements in
terms of facilities, faculty, etc.
Q. Were you able to get
the school of your choice or did you compromise and opted for the best option
that was open/available for you?
A. I got into a B-school which was in my list so I was satisfied.
