Questions related to Pre-MBA Preparation
Q. How many months and
how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. 10 months and regular studies of 3-4 hours a day.
Q. Did you take up some
coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. I took coaching, however, self-study is the key to success. With
coaching, self-studies are required to bell the CAT.
Q. Can you tell us
which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance,
books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. For preparations, I mostly relied on study material given by coaching
institute, but then I also studied Shakuntala Devi for quants. For relaxation, I
used to read John Grisham and Robin Cook.
Q. When did you start
your preparation?
A. I started in March.
Q. What are the other
books and tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. Other than my coaching center material, I took help of other material
available with other coaching centers.
Q. What were your
strongest and weakest areas while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. The strongest was DI and weakest was QA.
Q. Some tips which you
used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. For RC, I used the skip small words and derive the meaning on the
basis of story background. This trick worked everytime I had long passages to
read. For quants, there was no trick but I always tried to clear the sectionals,
nothing else.
Q. How much time did
you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working
full-time?
A. I used to put 3-4 hours. As I was working at the entry-level
managerial postion, the schedule was flexible.
Q. Which all Exams and
B-schools you applied to?
A. I appeared for CAT, XAT, SNAP and IRMA exams. As far as institutes are
concerned, IRMA-Anand, IIMs, IMDR-Pune, SCMHRD-Pune, GIM-Goa, IMI-New Delhi,
SPJIMR-Mumbai, NMIMS-Mumbai and KJSOM-Mumbai were on my list.
Q. Your present
B-school and course.
A. IMDR, Pune.
Q. What procedures your
school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. At IMDR, a very different process of selection is there which they
call Group Task and Competency-based Selection Interview.
Q. What is the range of
score for students who are admitted?
A. Percentile range at IMDR was 85-97.
Q. What was your score?
A. 89 Percentile.
