Q. When did you start
your preparation?
A. I started in the month of May but the actual preparation started 3
months before the exam.
Q. How many months and
how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. Honestly, I gave 3 months of serious preparation prior to the exam in
November. Since I was working before that, I used to give 4 hours of preparation
at night. From 10:00 pm to 2:00 am.
Q. Did you take up some
coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. I did not receive any coaching and did my preparation purely on my
own.
Q. Can you tell us
which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance,
books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. I read a lot of books to improve myself. I tried to cover almost all
spheres of life like fiction, sci-fi, biological, biography, etc. Some of the
books that I read were -
1) What they do not teach at Harvard - McCormack,
2) The Monk who sold his Ferrari - Robin Sharma
3) Books of Steven Hawkins,
4) Basics of Grammer - Wren'n'Martin
5) Basics of English - Dhillon Group,
6) Basic Mathematics - Class IX and X
Q. What was your
experience with coaching? Some feedback about faculty, coaching material and
your overall experience with particular center.
A. I did not receive any coaching
Q. What are the others
books and tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. Apart from above-mentioned books, I followed these materials -
1) MBA coaching material from IMS and Carrer Launcher.
2) Magzines like India Today, Business World and Frontline.
3) Newspapers like TOI, Hindustan Times, etc.
Q. What was your
strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Since I am a maths graduate, I have an advantage in mathematics.
Strong points were my determination to do an MBA and the weakest point was my
impatience.
Q. Some tips which you
used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. Invest more time on basics of mathematics and more and more practice
as I believe practice and more practice and nothing else makes you perfect in
Quant and RC.
Q. How much time did
you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working
full-time?
A. I was working full time so I had no time in the morning. Two months
prior to the exam, I took leave from work and used to solve two sets daily.
Before that I usually studied at night.
Q. Which all Exams and
B-schools you applied to?
A. CAT. And I applied to MDI-Gurgaon, Welingkar's-Mumbai and MICA-Ahmedabad,
apart from all the IIMs.
Q. Your present
B-school and course.
A. Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai and am doing PGDBM.
Q. What procedures your
school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. 1. Shortlisting of Students on the basis of CAT/MAT score.
2. Group Discussion
3. Personal Interveiw and Sychometric Test.
Q. What is the range of
score for students who are admitted in your institute?
A. CAT - Above 85 percentile.
Q. What was your score?
A. 91 percentile.
