4. Interview-related Questions
Q. Date and location of
Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or
rescheduled couple of times.
A. The interview was held on 9th February 2006 at Delhi. Option to choose
place of interview was there in the SNAP application form. Once decided, it was
not possible to get any change done in normal circumstances.
Q. Can you tell us
about the panel that interviewed you?
A. No.
Q. How long was your
interview?
A. Nearly 10 minutes.
Q. What was the first
question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
A. One questions was - "Tell us something about you which is not there in
your application form."
My interview questions revolved around my family business, my knowledge of the
business and my observations in the same.
Q. How did you prepare
for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel
prepared?
A. Career Launcher helped me there for sure; especially our quant faculty
was so friendly and guiding. Through his help, I analyzed the strong and weak
areas of my personality as well as my academic and business knowledge areas.
This induced a great confidence in me. When the questions were related to family
business area, I was really confident and found it easy to take care of the
questions. I think this was the major positive which I showed in all the
colleges where I got selected.
Q. Was any feedback
given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of
session?
A. No feedback was given.
Q. Did work experience
help in getting the choice of your school and also in dealing with the
curriculum?
A. I didn't have any formal work experience.
Q. Getting into and
sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone
from Humanities background. Your comments please.
A. I think it helps a bit in the entrance part but not significant while
studying in the B-school. In entrance exams, areas of Quant and DI are familiar
for a science grad. But in B-school, nearly all the subjects are new and mainly
analysis-based then procedure-based.
Q. Will an MBA degree
add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch / start a career
in management?
A. MBA degree will surely help as I am planning to go in the business
after 3 years of job experience. MBA in International Business is an additional
advantage.
Q. Why did you decide
to do MBA from this school?
A. Amongst the schools which I got selected in, SIIB, Pune has the
advantage of having International Business curriculum, which is really
significant according to my future plans. Also, the infrastructure facilities of
the institute, Pune as a city and Pune's climate were also secondary
considerations.
Q. Were you able to get
the school of your choice or did you compromise and opted for the best option
that was open / available for you?
A. SIIB, Pune was among my priority list always, but yes, options were
there of other schools also. The only option for which I feel regret for losing
is XIM-Bhubaneswar.
