Q. When did you start
your preparation?
A. Since November 2006
Q. How many months and
how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. Around 4 months to prepare and 2-3 hours per day apart from my office
obligations.
Q. Did you take up some
coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. No, I relied on self study.
Q. Can you tell us
which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance,
books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. To consolidate my knowledge by sticking to NCERT mathematics of 11th
and 12th for basics and Barron's GMAT Guide.
Q. What was your
experience with coaching? Some feedback about faculty, coaching material and
your overall experience with particular center?
A. Not Applicable.
Q. What was your
strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. My strong command over RC, arithmetic and quant was my strength, and
calculus was the weak area for me.
Q. Some tips which you
used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. Self Practice and Concentration.
Q. How much time did
you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working full
time?
A. I spent 2-3 hours daily and 6-7 hours on weekends.
Q. Which all B-schools
you applied to?
A. As I had manufacturing experience, so I applied to IIM Calcutta only.
Q. Your present
B-school and course.
A. Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Post Graduate Program for
Executives - Visionary Leaders in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLMP).
Q. What procedures your
school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. Written Test, Group Discussion, Group Activity, Essay-writing,
Interview, etc.). This is the 1st batch of this course and following procedure
was adopted for admission: -
1) The application form was to be filled which had questions on the
relative experience & academics information.
A) The form had essays
* Regarding our position in our present organization depicted through
organization chart.
* Leadership skills shown in difficult situations & lessons learnt.
* Describe three achievements in your work place in last five years.
B) Recommendations by employer.
2) Assessment of application form.
3) Short listed candidates called for Written Test conducted at IIM
Calcutta.
4) Written Test had RC, Quant, Class 11th & 12th Mathematics, basic
Engineering questions (Engineering Aptitude Test).
4) Short listing of candidates for the Interview.
5) Interview (No GD) & Final Selection.
