Background
Q. Can you tell
something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. "Some people dream of success... while others wake up and work hard
at it." This line describes me very well. Always driven by challenges and
motivated by failures, the maverick inside me keeps me active on all fronts, be
it academics, sports, extra-curricular participation or even leisure pursuits. I
have been able to do very well academically, balancing heavy participation in
quiz, debates and elocution contests. I love poetry and sketching pencil
portraits and follow Formula One car racing with great intensity. Trekking is my
favourite leisure time activity and dramatics is another hobby I pursue.
Before taking up MMS at JBIMS-Mumbai, I graduated from Datta Meghe College of
Engineering, Airoli, Navi Mumbai, in Computer Engineering. I did my H.Sc. from
V. G. Vaze College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Mulund.
Q. So when did you
decide to go for MBA?
A. My father is an MBA and he has been very successful in his career.
Hence, I always had an eye on a management degree; and as I grew up, I realized
that what the world and industry needs is not just business managers, but
business creators. This is what I realized when I stepped into engineering, and
I am glad I took the decision of pursuing a management degree, because JBIMS is
proving to be the right kind of platform that I needed to realize my dream. I am
sure that after I graduate, I will be not just a good manager, but also a good
human being, something I believe is innately essential in life.
Q. What was your first
step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. A successful manager is a good and clear orator who is able to voice
his thoughts lucidly, think analytically and be a solution provider. Hence,
since my engineering days, I have been participating in various inter-collegiate
competitions to develop my personality. Being friends with everyone is my forte
and I strive to remain up-to-date with current happenings in the industry. Thus,
I had been trying, at some level or the other, to strengthen my candidature for
admission in premium institutes of India.
Q. Which MBA institutes
and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. I had identified three IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore & Calcutta),
XLRI-Jamshedpur, FMS-Delhi and JBIMS-Mumbai as my only options. I had queried
the then present and past students in these institutes and decided that they are
the best in the country and I am glad I realized my goal by getting into JBIMS.
