Interview-related Questions
Q. Date and location of
Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or
rescheduled couple of times?
A. The date and place was pre-determined and no choice was offered. The
Personal Interview took place at the time and date scheduled.
Q. Can you tell us
about the panel that interviewed you.
A. The panel which interviewed me consisted of a lady and a gentleman,
who appeared to be the faculty in some management institute. The lady played the
role of a reticent observer and spoke only at the very end. The gentleman, who
was very well-versed with IT, asked me about it at length, as it was my subject
in graduation.
Q. How long was your
interview?
A. My interview lasted for about 15 minutes.
Q. What was the first
question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
A. The first question they asked me was, "What is the colour of the door
through which you just came in?" I was lucky enough to answer that correctly
without looking back. The most interesting question has to be the one where they
asked me whether I had a girlfriend. When I replied in the positive, they gave
me a sly smile and all of us had a hearty laugh. Their question on whether I
liked the particular institute where the interview was held, was the most
difficult question for me to answer. I managed to scrape through it though.
Q. How did you prepare
for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel
prepared?
A. I had read well beforehand and attended a couple of mock interviews,
thus, I was quite confident. I was very well-prepared about my own self, which
is generally the subject of such interviews.
Q. Was any feedback
given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of
session?
A. They congratulated me for a good show and wished me all luck to get
into the institute of my choice.
Q. Getting into and
sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone
from Humanities background. Your comments please.
A. Management is an art and not the prerogative or forte of students with
a particular background, which makes it so special. It is essential to be a good
human being first to be a good manager.
Q. Will an MBA degree
add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career
in management?
A. I have planned to use this management degree as a launch pad in my
career to reach greater heights in the corporate world.
Q. Why did you decide
to do MBA from this school?
A. JBIMS-Mumbai is one of the premier B-schools in the country and offers
the best of all - peers, faculty and placements. Hence, it was a preferred
choice for me.
Q. Were you able to get
the school of your choice or did you compromise and opted for the best option
that was open/available for you?
A. Although I would have liked to be in one of the IIMs for the sheer
brand equity they enjoy, but post my entry into JBIMS, I am very happy with the
progress I have done.
