Interview-related Questions
Q. Date and location of
Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or
rescheduled couple of times.
A. Date was May 9th and the location was in Bangalore. I was given the
option for the time but not the date, the interview date was fixed.
Q. Can you tell us
about the panel that interviewed you?
A. The panel consisted of two gentlemen and a lady - M. Sankaran of BIM
Trichy was present in my panel. The interview went on well but I would have
appreciated more if the interview had been conducted earlier. My GD was
scheduled at 10.30 am and I was the last in the interview which got over at 7.30
pm and I was quite tired, but it was worth the wait.
Q. How long was your
interview?
A. 15 minutes.
Q. What was the first
question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
A. The first question was 'Tell me about yourself', the questions on
marketing were interesting and the most difficult one was 'Why at this age you
read the HBR?'
Q. How did you prepare
for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel
prepared?
A. I had referred to some websites, read my subjects for some conceptual
understanding and re-read the resume for the type of questions, so I was
confident in the interview and I was prepared.
Q. Was any feedback
given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of
session?
A. No.
Q. Did work experience
help in getting the choice of your school and also in dealing with the
curriculum?
A. Well, I was a fresher and wanted to do an MBA. But being a fresher,
dealing with curriculum was not a problem for me.
Q. Getting into and
sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone
from Humanities background. Your comments please.
A. Well, Science graduates find it easy in the math sections and those
from Humanities find sections of verbal background easy, so I do not think that
it is easier for the Science graduate than for a Humanities graduate, as it all
depends on the person, his attitude, his individual way for preparing and
setting standards.
Q. Will an MBA degree
add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career
in management?
A. I decided to start a career in Management.
Q. Why did you decide
to do MBA from this school?
A. BIM has a reputation in South India as one of the finest schools and a
branch in Bangalore made it more advantageous for me to do my MBA. The faculty
and the exposure given here was well-suited to my needs and I did rapid strides
in choosing this school.
Q. Were you able to get
the school of your choice or did you compromise and opted for the best option
that was open/available for you?
A. Yes, I am content since within a few months of joining I realized that
this was indeed the type of exposure I needed.
