Q. When did you start
your preparation?
A. May 2006.
Q. How many months and
how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. 7 months and, on an average, 5 hours a day.
Q. Did you take up some
coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. Joined IMS Learning Resources for coaching.
Q. Can you tell us
which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance,
books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. Advance Edge, Word Power Made Easy, The Alchemist, Nautical Miles,
Count your Chickens Before They Hatch, and a few magazines like Business Today.
Q. What was your
experience with coaching?
A. The centre at which I got my coaching was at Egmore, Chennai. I felt
the Faculty, the material of IMS and everything else to be too good, and the
guidance and support provided by the managers was the best experience, as they
were taking proper interest and care about each and every query of the students.
I feel I was at the best place.
Q. What are the others
books & tests which you used for your MBA preparation?
A. I only used the study material provided by IMS.
Q. What was your
strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Quantitative Ability was my weakness and DI was my strength in context
of CAT, and regarding other processes, lots of my weaknesses converted into
strengths after being coached by IMS. For example, I had a lot of stage fear,
but after attending IMS GD Sessions, I never felt the fear of being on stage.
Q. Some tips which you
used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. Practice is the only way out for Success, so that is the only way to
master it.
Q. How much time did
you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working full
time?
A. Five hours on an average. And though I was not working in any
organization, I was still looking after my family business, so I was easily able
to decide and study as per my own convenience, according to the work in my
office.
Q. Which all Exams and
B-schools you applied to?
A. Exams appeared for - CAT, XAT, MAT, SNAP.
B-schools applied to - TAPMI, K. J. Somaiya, FORE, Alliance, IFMR, BIM, XLRI,
Christ College.
Q. Your present
B-school and course.
A. Institute for Financial Management & Research (IFMR), Chennai.
Doing Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).
Q. What procedures your
school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. Group Discussion and Interview. But from this year, our institute will
also have Psychometric Test.
Q. What is the range of
score for students who are admitted?
A. The range last year was 85 percentile to 97 percentile for CAT and a
score of above 700 for GMAT.
Q. What was your score?
A. 91.55 percentile.
