Questions related to Group Discussion / Group Exercise
Q. Was Group Discussion
or Group Exercise part of selection process?
A. Yes, Group Discussion.
Q. The duration of
Group Discussion, size of the group, number of panelists, etc.
A. Twelve minutes, eight members per group, One panelist.
Q. What was your Group
Discussion topic?
A. "Business & Ethics - Can They Co-Exist?"
Q. Tell us about your
Group Discussion experience.
A. It was a healthy discussion with a few people being for the topic and
the rest against, i.e., a few of them said 'Yes' and others 'No'. Many relevant
points and examples were raised with facts from the past. It was a good
experience to talk on such a topic and to present my opinion with relevant
examples without any chaos or clash.
Q. How was the
environment during discussion?
A. It was very much like a well-prepared debate, as it was well-organized
in the sense that everyone got a chance to speak and everyone contributed their
opinion on the topic. So there were no chaos or confusions as there are in many
Group Discussions. The flow of the Group Discussion was well-structured.
Q. Describe your
impression of the your team members and overall Group Discussion process.
A. As mentioned in the previous question, the overall Group Discussion
process was very good; there was good competition as everyone came up with good
points and examples to substantiate their points. Members behaved very well and
no one tried to dominate over the others.
Q. Some handy tips that
would be of great help.
A. Read the newspapers and business magazines regularly, try to work on
your soft skills, if possible attend the mock Group Discussion sessions
conducted by coaching institutes as they actually show you the areas for
concern, so that you can start working on them before it is too late. Don't get
too aggressive and don't be too silent either, speak whenever required, if you
have a good and relevant point, that may get you the credits required.
Q. Were there any set
norms of Group Discussion?
A. Yes. Group Discussion started after two minutes given for preparation.
At the end, everyone was given ten minutes time to write the summary of the
Group Discussion.
