Interview-related Questions
Q. Date and location of
Interview. Were you given the option to choose? Was the interview date fixed or
rescheduled couple of times?
A. The interview was on the same day as that of the Group Discussion
after a break of 20 minutes. In Kolkata, it was in Sector 3, Salt Lake, IIT
Bhawan. The dates for the Interview were fixed by the college itself and the
re-scheduling was allowed only in genuine cases.
Q. Can you tell us
about the panel that interviewed you?
A. The Interview consisted of 2 panel members. They were different from
the Group Discussion panelists (The Group Discussion panel were reshuffled). One
was an Economics Professor from the college itself. I have not seen the other
person till date in the college.
Q. How long was your
interview?
A. The interview was of 20 minutes.
Q. What was the first
question? The most interesting question? The most difficult question?
A. They asked me to tell something about myself. Then they asked about my
work experience.
They asked me whether investing in Mutal Funds or Stock Market would be
beneficial, and why?
How would you evaluate the capital position of the firm. One of the question was
also on the micro-finance.
Q. How did you prepare
for the interview? While facing the panel, were you confident, did you feel
prepared?
A. I had taken a lot of mock interviews in Erudite. That prepared me for
far more difficult questions. So I felt confident and prepared for the
interview.
Q. Was any feedback
given to you? What feedback did you receive from the panel at the end of
session?
A. No feedback was given to us.
Q. Did work experience
help in getting the choice of your school and also in dealing with the
curriculum?
A. It did not help in getting my choice of school. But yes, it helps me
in dealing with the curriculum. The industry exposure helps me understanding
some of the issues more in depth.
Q. Getting into and
sailing through a B-school is easier for a Science Graduate than for someone
from Humanities background. Your comments please.
A. This is a myth. Though the ratio of Engineers to any other stream of
students is very high, they do not get any added advantage. Though having a good
hold of number tackling helps them, the commerce students have advantage in
subjects like finance, law. Yes, the other streams do not have any such
advantage so they find it little tough.
Q. Will an MBA degree
add on to your existing career plan or did you decide to switch/start a career
in management?
A. I decided to switch and start a career in management.
Q. Why did you decide
to do MBA from this school?
A. This was the one I could finally convert. And the location being
Mumbai helps to get a lot of industry exposure.
Q. Were you able to get
the school of your choice, or did you compromise and opted for the best option
that was open/available for you?
A. I think anyone would have thought of IIMs and so did I. So I decided
to opt for the best that was available to me.
