Background

Q. Can you tell something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. My name is Asif Abbas and I hail from Kerala. But I did my schooling in Coimbatore and completed my Engineering in ECE from College of Engineering, Guindy in Chennai. I have joined IIMK straight out of college, and therefore, would qualify as a 'fresher'. I have a very positive attitude in life (Kept using them in all my interviews to good effect!!!) with a good sense of humor. My interests include sports (I am a basketball player) and reading Japanese manga.

Q. So when did you decide to go for MBA?
A. I decided to do my MBA when I was in the 3rd year of my engineering.

Q. What was your first step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. I joined a coaching institute and then read / browsed on the various institutes and the programs that they are offering.

Q. Which MBA institutes and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. Once I had decided to do an MBA, I always wanted to do it in an IIM and so only applied to the 6 IIMs.
