Introduction Decisiveness and Indecisiveness are two sides of a coin to the domain of decision making as Siamese twins. The catastrophic fall of Arthur Anderson, the finance giant and Enron, the Goliath in the power sector made every erudite professor take unsuccessful stories to the corridors of knowledge rather than successful ones. Similarly Celluloid movies which move our heart and create a heart share are being loathed as the tool to teaching in the class rooms. But here we shall employ the sagacious story of Devdas a Classical romantic novel of Bakim Chandra Chottopadhya, based on the saga of infinite love and consequential indecisiveness. It is all about an emotional love, devoid of decision making. The story of Devdas goes with the film directed by Sanjay Leela bansali in the year 2002 in relation to the original master piece of young Sarat Chandra Chottopadhya. The story line goes like this fictitious character Devdas (Shah Rukh Khan) lived a happy childhood with his lovely friend Paro (Aishwarya Rai). This supreme love between them was "felt" before it was ultimately "understood". Youth intensified the love. But, an unfortunate indecisive moment of Devdas created a wall of separation due to conflict between the families. One side of the wall was heart broken Paro, who became the wife of an old Landlord. And on the other, a completely shattered Devdas, lamenting for the love of Paro. Agony of life without Paro, made Devdas an alcoholic and regular visitor to Chandramukhi (Madhuri Dixit).Devdas was introduced by Chunnilal (Jackie Shroff) to Chandra mukhi.Alchohol and Chandramukhi could not make him forget the piercing pain of the beloved. Unflinching devotion and love of a beautiful courtesan(Chandarmukhi),did not ease the dejected heart lamenting on the indecisiveness on the part of Devdas, which led to the loss of his lady love Paro. His eyes closed to a permanent sleep, till then Devdas's only cherished desire and longing was to see his beloved Paro just once. Giving love the greatest dignity at Paro's Door Step, he left behind a testimony of a true love that was pure, chaste and indecisive. What is difficult to Decide? The genesis of dilemma began leading to indecision on the part of Devdas to marry Paro against the consent of the family. Though the decision was Devdas, because of his indecisiveness he could not get Paro, which he realized at a later stage of his life. A decision which Devdas could have easily taken went out of his hand simply because he did not know how to handle it. Hence Devdas is an outright loser, due to lack of decision making at the right time. Devdas Personality types are also found in the business forums globally, who seldom take decisions, which hampers business prospects and business communication. Ego, Emotion and Conflict Like families and individual organizations, societies and nations also have their distinctive personalities and communication styles. Conflicting emotions and feelings are nothing, but negative feelings toward one another which can damage the groups harmony and dynamism. Conflict, ego, and emotion in the family of Devdas and Paro resulted in the running of positive decision. Indecisiveness leads to frustration Decaying indecision due to conflict of Devdas's ideas shatters with the families and can do the same for an organization, and the people working in it. Personalities estrange and relationships become antagonistic as was the case in the two families, in the movie of Devdas. Two families can be taken as two organizations conflicting with a business, or a business of ego and conflict in an organization. Both theses organizations or for that matter families have same personalities and same philosophy, and indecisiveness of Devdas in it remained as the butt of all conflict between both the families. Lack of communication in Devdas, with respect to his social standing and personal standpoints to overpower the decision of his feudal father was responsible for the frustrating death of decision.Devdas could have solved the problem for the happy alternative to Chandramukhi, as a decision to live rather than frustration in love without a reasonable decision. Turning Point, Conflict Management and Indecision Devdas's turning point in life and conflict are all true to organizational personality and reactions in communication. The ability to manage conflict is possible with the healthy conflicting of ideas, without unhealthy conflict of feelings. Conflict exists whenever incompatible activities occur. Conflict may originate from number of different sources, including: differences in information, beliefs, values, interests or desires. This is also evident in the movie of Devdas and organizations everywhere. In order to take up proper decisionmaking, the personality of the organization moves in the line with personality of the organization. But the primary important aspect of business and business communication has to be handled with a time hamper. Time is limited, and unlimited decisions are to be taken. Quality Decisions Indecision cannot breed quality decision, but quality decision, but quality is important for organizations. Governance and organizational machinery crumble due to indecisiveness and non qualitative decisions which paralyze the business. Business personalities have to be sensible enough to achieve quality excellence against all oddities; else business communication shall go for a bumpy roller coaster ride. Generate Alternatives Quality decisions cannot be possible without generating quality alternatives to the decision making. Alternatives call for a comparative assessment of the existing to the proposed decisions. In decisions in the Devdas type personality do not opt for alternative decisions and indecisions dies a premature death. Implement Solution Generating alternative and evaluating the appropriateness of the alternative is pivotal to implementing a solution.Superflous alternatives confined to the mind, leave no scope for implementation. Success is ultimately the objective of each organization taking up in innumerable decisions. Conclusion It is said that "time and tide wait for no man". A great deal of time is spent in meetings formulating problems, arriving at solutions, and determining the means for implementation. Thus, it is important to know when decisions should be made with groups, and when individuals should make them. If there is one individual who is an expert and can solve the problem, an individual should make the decision. Individual decisions can be made quickly, and responsibility can be clearly assigned. Devdas types are unable to take the right decision at the right time, causing a dilemma in decision making. The "colonial Style" inheritance, aristocratic upbringing, narccissitic attitude and pseudo masochistic personality is detrimental to decision making in Devdas, which has been criticized by pundits of decision making.
