Background
Q. Can you tell
something about yourself and your pre-MBA qualifications?
A. Studied in Frobel Garden High School, Topped in 10th, went on to do my
Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad in Electronics. Worked in Satyam
Computers for 2 years before joining IIM Kozhikode.
Q. So when did you
decide to go for MBA?
A. Like many Indian Engineers, I too gave CAT in my final year of
engineering. Despite getting good calls, couldn't convert them, so I ended up
working. 15 months into my job, I decided that coding wasn't my cup of tea and
decided to try CAT once more. An MBA, I thought, would give me the flexibility
to choose a field of my choice and provide avenues for growth.
Q. What was your first
step to start preparation for getting into the school of your choice?
A. Decided to take CAT, so started sometime around July and enrolled
myself in a weekly Mock Cat program. Preparation centered around clearing the
cut-off in each test. After-test preparation included solving the entire paper
once again.
Q. Which MBA institutes
and programs you identified for your MBA?
A. FMS, IIFT and CAT were the programmes I applied for. FMS because the
test did not have sectional cut-offs and I knew I could crack it easily because
I was good in verbal ability. IIFT because I was interested in foreign trade,
and CAT because everyone gives CAT.
