Q. How many months and
how many hours daily did you devote for preparation to entrance procedures?
A. I had started quite early, I think in September 2004 for CAT 2005, but
in Delhi I was doing other part-time professional courses also, so the main
preparation started from July 2005, by devoting about 4 hours daily initially,
which went upto 12 hours as the CAT came close.
Q. Did you take up some
coaching institute or you believed in self-study?
A. Coaching Institute - Career Launcher.
Q. Can you tell us
which are your favorite books, books that you used for preparing for entrance,
books for self-development and books for pure relaxation?
A. Norman Lewis's Vocabulary books and Arun Sharma's for Quant.
Q. What was your
experience with coaching? Some feedback about faculty, coaching material and
your overall experience with particular center?
A. Coaching Institutes have become assembly lines so it's necessary that
you get adequate attention from the faculty. So start early when they are free
due to less numbers of classes. I was really impressed by faculty at Career
Launcher's South campus.
Q. What was your
strongest and weakest area while preparing for MBA coaching?
A. Strongest - Quant; Weakest - RC.
Q. Some tips which you
used for mastering Quant, RC, etc.
A. Undertake more and more tests and analyze every test in depth,
identify whether you repeat similar mistakes or you have actually learned from
past mistakes.
Q. How much time did
you put for MBA preparation everyday? How did you manage this while working
full-time?
A. Spent about 4 hours initially, I am a fresher.
Q. Which all Exams and
B-schools you applied to?
A. CAT, XAT, FMS, SNAP, IBSAT, MFC, MAT and NMAT. I had applied to MDI,
IMT, TAPMI, IMI, FORE, K J Somaiya, FMS, MFC, SIBM and SCMHRD.
Q. Your present
B-school and course.
A. PGDBA at K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research,
Mumbai.
Q. What procedures your
school has for admission to its MBA program?
A. GD, Essay and PI.
Q. What is the range of
score for students who are admitted?
A. CAT 89-99 percentile.
Q. What was your score?
A. CAT 90.65 percentile.
