The class input of 780 hours would consist of 600 hours of compulsory courses and 180 hours of electives in their field of specialisation. Since courses of independent study are also in their field of specialisation, the participants, in effect, would receive equal inputs of compulsory and elective courses during the programme. During each term, the participant has to visit and stay in the campus for fifteen days, generally in the beginning of the term. The participant would receive classroom inputs of 130 hours, during these fifteen days of his/her campus stay, at the rate of eight to nine hours per day. During the two and a half months period, between the campus visits, the participants are expected to complete project work and assignments given to them, and go through the background reading materials required for the next term.
