Post
Graduate Programme in Management
The
Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) at MDI,is a two year
full time residential course, is a natural extension and consolidation
of the institute's twenty six years of excellence in post-experience
management education, research and Consultancy. This programme
attempts to prepare global leaders who create, manage and lead
effective change across diverse organizations.
The
objectives of the course are:
To understand the social, economic, political, technological
and ecological environment of modern society and their characteristic
values.
To help students become effective leaders, who can achieve results
which have the potential to transform organizations.
To inculcate values of integrity, justice, fairness and facilitate
lateral thinking.
To develop a global mindset so that the future managers can
address the challenges of global competition.
On successful completion of the programme requirements, a student
is awarded a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM),
which has the approval of the All India Council for Technical
Education, Government of India, and is recognized by the Association
of Indian Universities as equivalent to an MBA degree of an
Indian University. The PGPM has been accredited by the National
Board of Accreditation of AICTE and awarded "A" Grade.
Pedagogy
Teaching methods
at the MDI include - lectures, case studies, seminars, group
discussions, business games, role plays, simulation exercises,
structured and unstructured group work and field visits. The
emphasis is on involving the students in learning and helping
them to relate concepts and theories to business requirements.
Consistent with advances in teaching technology, the programme
integrates the use of computers in learning the basic principles
in different functional areas of management. It also enables
students to acquire skills in identifying and dealing with complex
problems in management. The students also undertake several
field-based projects so that they can get better insights into
the business workplace reality. The curriculum is revised on
an ongoing basis through discussions with practicing managers
from the industry to reflect current business needs.
Admissions Procedure
Eligibility
An applicant must hold a Bachelor�s Degree of any of the Universities
incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in
India or other educational institutions established by an Act
of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under
section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The
Bachelor�s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the
candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education
after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Candidates
appearing for the final bachelor�s degree / equivalent qualification
examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will
be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they
submit a certificate latest by 1st October 2006. otherwise they
may be asked to withdraw from the programme.
Entrance Test
Applicants are required to
appear for the COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT) conducted by IIMs,
to be held on 20th November, 2005.
National
Management Programme (NMP)
The
National Management Programme (NMP) was launched in 1988 with
the support of the Department of Personnel & Training, Government
of India. The NMP is designed for young managers in government
and industry. It focuses on enterprise management with the objective
of creating, a nucleus of like-minded individuals in the top
echelons of the Government, Public and Private Sectors. By bringing
together the best among officers and executives in the country,
the Programme provides its participants with an opportunity
for closer interaction and greater understanding of the three
sectors as well as personal and professional growth.
Admissions Procedure
Eligibility
1. An applicant should have
A
minimum of 3-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline
recognized by the Association of Indian Universities / AICTE
as eligible for Post-Graduate Studies in Management.
Minimum
5 years of post qualification executive work experience.
2.
An Applicant to the National Management Programme should be
either:
A
Class I officer belonging to any Central or State Services),
or
A
Class I officer in a Public Sector inclusive of Banks, Financial
Institutions or a Private Sector Undertaking carrying adequate
management responsibilities, or
A self-sponsored candidate.
3.Foreign
/ NRI Applicants
Foreign/NRI
applicants can be considered for admission on the basis of their
GMAT scores (taken not earlier than January, 2005).
If
the applicants are short listed on the basis of their GMAT score,
they may have to take another written test and attend an interview
at their own cost at Gurgaon (India).
NRI
Applicants who are residing in India during the period of admission
process i.e. July-December, 2005 will have to appear for the
CAT and will not be considered on the basis of GMAT score.
Entrance Test
Applicants are required to appear for the COMMON ADMISSION
TEST (CAT) conducted by IIMs, to be held on 20th November, 2005
or MDI AT (MDI Admission Test) to be held sometime in April/May
2006 at various examination centres.
Executive
Management Programme
The
programme is targeted towards the working executives and entrepreneurs
who have not had an opportunity to learn the latest managerial
tools and techniques through formal management education. Apart
from filling up this gap, it will equip managers for assuming
higher responsibilities in performing their tasks more efficiently
and effectively in the context of changed domestic and international
business environment.
Admissions Procedure
Eligibility
An applicant should have:
A
minimum of 3-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline
recognized by the Association of Indian Universities / AICTE
as eligible for Post-Graduate Studies in Management.
A
minimum of 3 years of post qualification executive work experience.
Entrance Test: The candidates will have to appear for a
written test on Sunday, 30th April, 2006 at MDI Campus, Gurgaon.
Interview: Short listed candidates will be called for an
interview at MDI Campus, Gurgaon (Dates to be announced separately).
Admission Offer: Successful candidates will be intimated
of their final selection by 23rd May, 2006. The selected candidates
will have to pay the first installment of fee by 1st June, 2006,
failing which their seats would be forfeited.
Fellow Program In Management
The
objective of the Fellow Programme is to provide high quality
management education to bright young men and women aspiring
to build performing organizations. The programme offers opportunities
for developing professional competence and leadership skills
through its carefully designed curriculum.
Admissions Procedure
Eligibility
MDI is looking for candidates with a consistently good academic
record, professional accomplishments and a strong urge to contribute
to the movement of knowledge creation and dissemination in the
field of management. A candidate should have a Master's degree
or equivalent diploma in business management, with a minimum
of 55% marks in the qualifying examination. Candidates with
master's qualifications in a functional management area, such
as finance (MFC), business economics (MBE), and human resource
management (HRM) may also be considered eligible for specialization
in that area, if they satisfy other requirements.
Application Form
Can be obtained from 21st January 2006 to 31st March 2006
on payment of Rs.1300/- in cash or through mail by sending a
crossed demand draft for Rs.1350/- in favour of Management Development
Institute, payable at New Delhi. The last date for submission
of filled-in application form at MDI is 6 April 2006.
Screening
A candidate who wish to be considered for the FPM are invited
to submit a detailed application in the prescribed form, available
from the Institute, clearly spelling out the motivation for
joining the program and the area of research interest. The Admission
Committee will then screen the applications with a view to ensuring
a reasonable fit between the programme and individual research
interests.
Selection Procedure
The selection of candidates would be through an entrance test.
The test will be on multi-functional areas of management so
as to ensure appropriate knowledge of management theory and
practice. The short listed candidates will be called for the
entrance test and interview process on 2-3 May 2006 at MDI Campus,
Gurgaon.

Successful candidates will be intimated of their selection by

Executive
Fellow Program In Management
MDI's
Fellow program in Management (FPM) is a doctoral program which
has the objective of providing education to develop outstanding
scholars for careers in teaching and research at leading business
schools and universities. The FPM is a residential program of
about four years duration and, therefore, is not accessible
to those potential management scholars who are already employed
in an executive position and are not able to meet FPM's residential
requirement. The Executive Fellow program in Management (EFPM)
is also a doctoral program which is largely non-residential
and has been designed to cater for the scholarly needs of working
business executives. The objective of the EFPM is to develop
outstanding scholars for careers not only in management teaching
and research but also in management practice, consulting and
development.
Admissions Procedure
Eligibility
MDI is looking for candidates with a consistently good academic

of managerial/executive work experience is required. Aspiring
candidates are required to outline the nature of their experience
and the management competencies acquired there from. Minimum
age limit for this program as on January 2006 is 35 years
Application Form
Admission to EFPM will take place twice a year starting
from January 2006 and July 2006. The EFPM information brochure
along with application form would be available from 21st August
2005 to 31st October 2005 for the batch starting January 2006
and 21st January 2006 to 31st March 2006 for the batch starting
July 2006.
Screening
Candidates who wish to be considered for the Executive Fellow
Program are invited to submit a detailed application in the
prescribed form, available from the Institute, clearly spelling
out the motivation for joining the program and the area of research
interest. The Admission Committee will then screen the applications
with a view to ensuring a reasonable fit between the program
and individual research interests.
Duration
The program shall be completed within 5 years after registration,
which may be extended by another one year subject to merit of
the case and favourable review of work progress by the EFPM
Committee.
Selection procedure
The selection of candidates to this program would be through
an entrance test. The test will be on multi-functional areas
of management so as to ensure appropriate knowledge of management
theory and practice. The short listed candidates will be called
for the entrance test and interview process in 9-10 November
2005 and 2-3 May 2006 at MDI Campus, Gurgaon.
Post
Graduate Programme - Human Resource Management
To
succeed in the globally competitive and dynamic scenario, business
organizations need to develop entirely new modes of functioning,
processes and styles. HR professionals will have a critical
role to play in this process of corporate transformation and
renewal. Based on the needs expressed by the corporate sector
(in our study on Management Education conducted jointly with
IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Lucknow), a unique full-time PGP-HR Programme
(two year) has been developed by MDI, in collaboration with
National HRD Network. This course has been launched from July
2004, at MDI, Gurgaon.
Admissions Procedure
