Post
graduate programme in management (PGP)
The
two year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management is a full-time
residential programme This programme prepares the young
graduates for senior level positions in industry and other sections.
In the first year, the students undergo 58 credit foundation
courses in various functional areas, followed by 8-10 weeks
of summer training in business and industrial organisations.
The second year comprises two foundation courses of 3 minimum
of 45 credit elective courses. The students are encouraged to
have 2 areas of specialisations.
The programme lays great emphasis on knowledge assimilation
than only imparting it. Towards this it uses a wide variety
of pedagogies: lectures, case studies, exercises, role-plays,
simulation, video shows etc. The evaluation system is rigorous
one comprising quizzes, assignments, mid-term and term end examinations.
The programme also lays emphasis on learning to learn through
requirements of library-based self-study, group work, open-ended
discussions and real life projects.
Eligibility
The
candidate must hold a Bachelor�s Degree of any of the Universities
incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in
India or other educational institutions established by an act
of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under
section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The
Bachelor�s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the
candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education
after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Candidates
appearing for the final Bachelor�s degree/equivalent qualification
examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will
be allowed to join the programme provisionally only if they
submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2006 from the Principal/Registrar
of their college/institute (issued on or before June 30, 2006)
stating that they have appeared for the examinations (including
practicals) in all the subjects required for obtaining the bachelor�s
degree/equivalent qualification.
Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the
mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the bachelor�s
degree/equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate
issued by the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute.
The deadline for submission of marksheet and the certificate
is December 31, 2006.
Open
University graduates must show proof of minimum three years
after class twelve and a certificate from the university equivalent
to a bachelors degree.
Diplomas
like Hotel Management, Fashion Technology are not eligible unless
equivalent certificates to a three year university degree are
provided.
Foreign Students
A
non-resident Indian or a foreign candidate is eligible to apply
to 2-yr residential program PGP.

The
NRI/Foreign candidates who are present in India at the time
of Common Admisson Test (CAT) are required to take the same.
CAT 2005 is scheduled to be held on November 20, 2005.
The candidates who are not present in India at the time of CAT
should produce Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score
of not more than one year's vintage. GMAT has to be taken outside
India and the score should be in top 15% limit. In case of foreign
nationals, TOEFL scores should also be produced.
The
candidates seeking admission under NRI quota should produce
with the application a certificate from the Indian Embassy/High
Commission/Consulate of the country where the candidate is currently
based, stating that the candidate has been resident in that
country continuously for a period of not less than 18 months
as on December 31, 2005.

Selection
Procedure
Candidates
seeking admission to the Institute's Post-Graduate Programme
(PGP) commencing July 2006 are required to appear for the Common
Admission Test (CAT) which will be conducted on November 20,
2005. Selection to the Post-Graduate Programme is based on criteria
including the candidate's performance in CAT, academic record,
work experience, group discussion and interview.
Fees and Expenses
For
Domestic candidates:
Yearly expenses on tuition, library, computer, teaching material
and hostel accommodation presently total up to Rs. 1,25,000
for the first year and Rs. 1,35,000 for the second year. Boarding
is in addition to this. However, the fee is likely to be revised
from the academic year 2006-07 onwards.
For
NRI / Foreign candidates:
The annual expenses on tuition, library, computing facility,
teaching materials and hostel accommodation presently total
up to US$ 8,000 payable at the beginning of each academic year.
All other expenses including boarding charges will be borne
directly by the student.
Financial Assistance
Substantial
need-based scholarships are available for students belonging
to economically disadvantaged families. The Institute also assists
students interested in acquiring educational loans from financial
institutions subject to their meeting the stipulated conditions.
In addition, currently a couple of full scholarships are also
provided.
Reserved Seats
As
per the Government of India requirement 15% and 7�% seats are
reserved for SC and ST candidates, respectively.3% seats are
reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD). The three categories
of disability are a) low-vision/blindness, b) hearing impairment,
and c) locomotor disability/cerebral palsy.
Post
Graduate Certificate Program in Management
PGCPM
is a 1-year intensive programme in General Management, designed
specifically for working professionals/executives running its
4th batch. The certificate will be awarded directly by Indian
Institute of Management Kozhikode. The students have to attend
a 5 day in-campus programme which shall be intimated with the
admission offer document at the IIMK
campus in Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala. The student will
have to travel to Calicut at their own cost for the same. The
evaluation and certification will be done by IIMK.
Eligibilty
The
entry to PGCPM is restricted to graduates having at least 3
years of work experience . The selection is based on a selection
test (eMAT) conducted by IIMK every year. This is meant to test
the analytical, verbal and numerical abilities of the candidate.
Selection
All
candidates wishing to participate in the program are required
to take a written entrance examination eMAT 4 scheduled as per
the Notification. The results of this test combined with the
candidates' work experience & job profiles will be analyzed
by IIMK and a list of shortlisted candidates will be published.
Obviously, better scores in eMAT 4 and better work experience
will improve your prospects of selection for admission into
PGCPM programme.
Course Conduction
This
is NOT a correspondence programme. This will use the DirecWay
Global Education satellite broadband
infrastructure to deliver real time, synchronous, live
education to all participating students.
The interaction is live and uses high quality video,
audio and data. The studios for the programme are at IIMK�s
campus in Kozhikode and in Gurgaon.
The professors will teach from these studios. The students
will need to come to DirecWay Global Education
learning centres at pre-fixed times.
They have classrooms at all major cities like Delhi, Mumbai,
Bangalore, Kolkata, Cochin, Coimbatore,
Madurai, Trichy, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vadodara, Chandigarh,
Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Trivandrum, Visakhapatnam,
Pune etc.

Facilities
Library
A
fully automated modern Library & Information Centre (LIC)
is on its way to becoming an outstanding learning resource centre
catering to the ever growing and uncompromising information
and intellectual requirements of the students, faculty, and
researchers.
The LIC has acquired over 15375 books.The LIC subscribes to
around 360 print and over 900 electronic journals, along with
a massive set of over 4000 aggregated full-text contents of
e-journals, both Indian and foreign.
Computing
There
are more than 210 Pentium III/IV based personal computers connected
over the campus LAN under some of the latest Network Operating
Systems running on some of the latest high-end IBM Netfinity
Servers. An environment of wide variety of operating systems
such as Windows-95, Windows-98, Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows
2000 Server and LINUX has been established at IIMK to make students
familiar with latest operating systems.
A wide range of latest software tools and office automation
packages such as MS Visual Studio, Oracle 8i, Developer-2000,
DB2, Macromedia Director, Flash, 3D Studio Max, Rational Rose,
SYSTAT, SPSS, LINDO, AMOS, MINITAB, LIMDEP, EVIEWS, MS-Office
XP, MS-Projects, MS-FrontPage, Makess ERP package etc. have
been made available for the users.
Hostels
The
institute has excellent accommodation facilities for the students
inside the campus. The classrooms, computer centre, canteen,
and all other facilities are within walking distance of the
hostel. Every student has been provided individual rooms.
One television and a washing machine is provided in every hostel.
Facilities for making STD/ISD calls are located within the hostel
itself. The hostels also has facilities for various sports like
table tennis, badminton, carrom and chess.
All the hostels rooms have been provided with a LAN connection
to cater to the computing needs of the students.
Lady students are provided separate accommodation inside the
