The
Post Graduate Programme (PGP)
The
two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is the
flagship programme of the Institute. It is designed to enable
students to acquire the skills and capabilities that will enable
them to reach responsible Global positions in management.
The number of applicants admitted to this programme is limited
to around 240.The programme lays the foundation for conceptual
and analytical reasoning, and gives the students an insight
into the dynamics of the business environment. It prepares students
to manage and lead in global business scenario which is getting
increasingly complex and dynamic.
The first year students are exposed to basic concepts in the
areas of Marketing, Finance, Personnel Management and Human
Resources Management, Quantitative methods, Operations and Behavioral
Sciences through the 'core courses'. These lay the foundation
for all the functional areas of management help develop problem
solving skills.
In the second year, students specialize in functional areas
of their interest. There is greater emphasis on the application
of knowledge gained in the form of projects, group exercises
and case discussions. Guest lectures supplement regular course
work while the core Business Policy and Strategy course integrates
the learning gained from the first year basic disciplines. Students
are encouraged to take up dissertation work and to do a project
on 'Contemporary Concerns' under the guidance of faculty.
Eligibility for domestic candidates
The
candidate must hold a Bachelor�s Degree of any of the Universities
incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in
India or other educational institutions established by an Act
of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under
section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The
Bachelor�s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the
candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education
after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Candidates appearing for the final bachelor's degree / equivalent
qualification examination can also apply. Such candidates, if
selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally
only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2006 from
the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute (issued on
or before June 30, 2006) stating that they have appeared for
the examinations (including practicals, viva voce, etc.) in
all the subjects required for obtaining the bachelor's degree
/ equivalent qualification. Their admission will be confirmed
only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having
passed the bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification referred
to in the certificate issued by Principal/Registrar of their
college/institute. The deadline for submission of marksheet
and the certificate is December 31, 2006. Non-fulfilment of
this condition will automatically result in the cancellation
of the provisional admission.
Open University graduates must show proof of minimum three years
after class twelve and a certificate from the university equivalent
to a bachelors degree.
Diplomas like Hotel Management, Fashion Technology are not eligible
unless equivalent certificates to a three year university degree
are provided.

The candidates are expected to take GMAT and have an official
result (along with the AWA score) reported to IIMB.GMAT code
no for IIMB is 7036.
Final
selection is on the basis of GMAT, scholastic achievement, work
experience and three letters of reference. Financial support
is available to needy students. This takes the form of tuition
waivers and/or maintenance allowance for four or more terms.
The Financial Aid Committee of the Institute will consider applications
for financial support on a case-by-case basis. Students belonging
to SC/ST will be given special consideration for financial support.
Emergency assistance may also be provided as required.
Admission Procedure
The
CAT advertisement normally appears in daily national newspapers
across the country in the first week of August. Applying for
CAT is the first step in the process for seeking admission to
the Post-Graduate in Management at IIMB. Candidates are short
listed for the interview on the basis of their performance in
the CAT, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience.
At this stage, the short listed candidates are sent application
forms to formally apply to the Post Graduate Program (PGP).
Once the formal applications are received, candidates are informed
of the interview schedule. Final selection is based on performance
in CAT, scholastic achievement, work experience, and performance
in the group discussion and interview, and three letters of
reference
Post-Graduate Program in Software Enterprise Management
The
two and a half years program leading to Post-Graduate Diploma
in Software Enterprise Management, provides you with the opportunity
to acquire the best in management education in an innovative

Apart from being interactive, rigorous and challenging, the
course will prepare you for the rapidly expanding global marketplace
and the highly specialized challenges in your career. Senior
executives from Infosys Technologies Limited, Intel Technologies
India Pvt Ltd., Motorola India Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Oracle
India Pvt. Ltd., Sasken Communication Technologies Limited,
Sun Micro Systems India Pvt. Ltd. and Wipro Technologies Ltd.,
are on the Advisory Board of the IIMB Centre for Software and
Information Technology Management (which manages the PGSEM).
Eligibility
Participants
are admitted to the program based on a combination of requirements.
First, the candidate must hold a Bachelor�s Degree of any of
the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State
legislature in India or other educational institutions established
by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University
under section 3 UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The
Bachelor�s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the
candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education
after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Second, applicants need to have a minimum of two years experience
in the Software / IT industry as on June 10, 2006. Applicants
having 4 to 5 years or more of work experience are likely to
gain most from this program.
Admission Procedure
A
candidate should have his/her CAT or GMAT Score at the time
of application. Candidates need to indicate in the application
form their CAT or GMAT score, and enclose a bank draft/cheque
of Rs. 500.00
For
those opting for the PGSEM test , a separate PGSEM Admission
Test will be conducted in Bangalore and Chennai for admission
to the 2006-2007 academic year. The test will be held on March
19, 2006. Candidates need to indicate in the application form
that they will be taking the PGSEM Admission Test, and enclose
a bank draft/cheque of Rs. 1100.00

Scholarships/Financial Assistance
It is the endeavour of all IIMs that no student be denied opportunity
to pursue the Post-Graduate Programme in Management for want
of adequate financial resources. Substantial need-based scholarships
are available for students belonging to economically disadvantaged
families. (Please see the write-up on each IIM in the CAT Bulletin
for details.)
Reservations
As per Government of India requirement 15% and 7�% seats are
reserved for SC and ST candidates, respectively. 3% seats
are reserved for Persons with Disability (PWD). The three categories
of disability are: a) low-vision/blindness, b) hearing impairment,
and c) locomotor disability/cerebral palsy.
The
Fellow Programme In Management (FPM):
The
Fellow Programme is the doctoral-level Programme of the Institute
which is recognised as equivalent to a Ph.D. by the Association
of Indian Universities and the Government of India. The first
Fellow of IIMB graduated in 1980.
The programme aims to build in the candidates the perspectives
of the specialist, the researcher, and the academician. The
program equips students for careers in teaching and research,
as staff-level specialists in functional areas in corporate,
government, non-government and international organisations,
and as consultants. The programme has the first two years in
common with the Post Graduate Programme. Beyond the second year,
FPM students work on advanced courses and for their doctoral
thesis.
Currently there are 52 students in the programme at various
stages. To facilitate practical experience in teaching/training,
senior Fellow students are being permitted to assist the faculty
on a part-time basis. They are also being allowed to spend
their summer, assisting the faculty in designated research projects
in areas related to their dissertation research. Both FPM students
and the faculty have found this very useful. As FPM students
generally have work experience before joining this programme,
the norms for summer placement at the end of the first year
have been modified to suit their specific requirements.
Eligibility
Candidates
should have any of the following:
A Master's Degree holder in any discipline or equivalent qualification,
with a minimum of 55% marks.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology with atleast
60% marks and a minimum of two years work experience.
The Candidates must hold a Master�s Degree or a Bachelor�s Degree
in engineering or Technology from any of the Universities incorporated
by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other
educational institutions established by an act of Parliament
or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of
UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized
by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
A Chartered Accountant (CA) with a minimum of 55% marks
In
addition, all FPM applicants must also satisfy the eligibility
criteria for the Common Admission Test (Details given in the
CAT Advertisement).
Those appearing for the respective examinations may apply, provided
they complete all requirements prior to June 30, 2006
Applicants who plan to take GATE 2006 or have taken or plan
to take GMAT or GRE in 2005 are also eligible to apply, without
taking CAT.
Candidates taking the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
must have the official result reported to the Indian Institute
of Management Bangalore (IIMB). The GMAT code number for IIMB
Fellow Programme in Management is 7046.
Application
Process
Take
Common Admission Test (CAT) on 20th November 2005. (For details,
please see CAT advertisement that has appeared in all leading
newspapers on or around 17th July 2005).
FPM Application forms are issued free of cost on request from
10th August 2005. Please write to FPM Office, Indian Institute
of Management Bangalore, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore - 560076,
with a self addressed envelope size (9" x 12") affixed
with stamps for Rs.67/- and a self addressed slip.
Fill in and submit the forms as instructed, prior to the closing
date. Forms downloaded from the IIMB website must be filled
in hard (printed) copy and sent to the IIMB FPM office so as
to reach the above address on or before 10th November 2005 along
with enclosures as given in the instructions.
Financial Support
FPM Students in good standing are provided with a fellowship
grant for four years to cover tuition and other fees, hostel
room rent and computer facilities. In addition, they will also
receive a stipend of Rs.8,000 - Rs.10,000/- per month to cover
boarding and other expenses, and also a contingency grant of
Rs.15,000 per year. (Stipend is under revision)
No financial support is available for NRIs and Foreign Applicants,
who are required to pay annual tuition fees of US$ 8,000 for
each of the first two years and US$ 2,000 for each of the subsequent
two years.
