Small business owners in the Badger State received $50.4 million in commercial loans backed by the SBA last month, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. This figure represents an 80 percent increase from August 2008, during which the government got behind $27.9 million worth of credit.
August saw 235 loans issued, which is 81 loans more than in 2008. More credit agreements were signed last month than in August 2006, long before the recession began. The SBA 504 loan program was created to support growing businesses with long-term, fixed-rate financing for purchases of large, fixed assets such as property.
The maximum debenture of an SBA loan is $1,500,000, assuming the applicant meets all the agreement's criteria. Businesses are normally expected to create one job for every $50,000 provided by the government.
If you want to start your own company but don't have a business background, consider enrolling in an MBA program today. An MBA degree could provide you with the skills you need to run a successful operation, and the SBA can give you the financial support.
