CDW Government (CDW-G), a subsidiary of the computer supplies reseller CDW, has added four startups to its Small Business Partner Consortium, which was created in 2003 to help small businessmen and women compete with larger entities for federal IT contracts, netting them $125 million since the program launched.
"The CDW-G Small Business Partner Consortium is a mutually beneficial proposition for both Federal agencies and their small business IT providers," said Andy Lausch, VP of federal sales at CDW-G. "Consortium members expand their service offerings by harnessing CDW-G's breadth and depth of products to provide Federal agencies with technology solutions that meet their specific requirements."
The Small Business Act requires 23 percent of prime contract dollars be awarded to small businesses. In 2007, MBAs, entrepreneurs and other small businessmen and women secured 22 percent of this money, falling just short of the government's goal.
If you have a background in IT and have always wanted to run your own business, CDW-G may be one option to expand one's client base. If you feel you don't have the business experience required to start a company, consider enrolling in an MBA program today.
