Nissan says it has no plans for additional job cuts in the U.S. following its announcement of 20,000 job cuts worldwide. Nissan North America spokesman Alan Buddendeck says the company has made the cuts it needs and does not expect "extensive further job actions" in the U.S. Nissan last summer announced it was cutting about 1,200 employees through buyouts at its plants in Smyrna and Decherd, Tenn. The company said in November it met its goals at the two plants, and last month said it was cutting 110 white-collar jobs in the U.S.
On Monday, Nissan Motor Co. in Tokyo forecast a 265 billion yen ($2.9 billion) loss for the fiscal year and said it planned to cut 20,000 job cuts worldwide, with the majority expected in Japan.
