Nirma University is a statutory
university established under the Gujarat State Act. The Institute of
Management (formerly known as Nirma Institute of Management), establiched in
1996, is a constituent institution of Nirma University. The University is
recognized
by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the section 2(f) of the UGC Act.
The institute is ranked among the top B-schools in the country. The institute
has been offering Post Graduate Programmes in Management from its inception and
Doctoral Programmes in Management since 1999.
The
Programme
The Institute invites
applications for its residential full-time Ph.D. Programme in Management.
The Programme is designed to prepare young men and women for challenging careers
in teaching, training, research and consulting. The full-time Doctoral students
will be provided stipend of Rs. 8,000/- in the first and second year, and Rs.
9,000/- for the remaining period.
Eligibility
Those aspiring to be admitted in
the Ph.D. programme must hold a master's degree or equivalent (such as PGDM)
with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for final
examination can also apply, provided they satisfy the eligibility requirement by
June 30, 2008.

Procedure
Application Form
Prospective candidates are
required to fill in the application form. To obtain the application form and
prospectus, applicants should send a request along with a demand draft for Rs.
500/- favouring Institute of Management, Nirma University, payable at
Ahmedabad, addressed to the contact details given at the end.
Selection
Process
The selection procedure for
admission consists of two steps: -
Written Test
Candidates will be evaluated on
the basis of their applications and supporting documents and those who are
eligible will be called for a written test. The written test will be held at
Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi. The test consists of the following four sections: -
Quantitative Skills
Verbal Skills
Logic & Data Interpretation
Social & General Awareness
Each section consists of 30
questions. The total of 120 questions are to be attended within two hours.
Negative marks will be assigned for wrong/incorrect answer. The test will be
objective type with multiple choice items.
Personal Interview
Candidates short-listed on the
basis of their performance in the written test will be called for personal
interview. The final selection to the programme would be based on the
candidate�s performance in the written test and personal interview. The personal
interviews are normally held only at Ahmedabad.
The following weightage will be
given for each component of the selection criteria: -
Written Test: 70%
Personal Interview: 30%
