The
Programme
Knowledge and continuous learning
is the mainstay amongst the best organizations of today. In order to satisfy
this thirst for knowledge and to become a learning organization, XLRI has
evolved a one year consolidated programme in general management with the
objectives of providing the practicing managers a substantial exposure to
theoretical foundations in management as well as to provide them a holistic
perspective of business in such a way that they are not only equipped with tools
and techniques to perform their task effectively but also to shoulder greater
responsibilities in the future as they move up the hierarchy.
The Institute awards the
Executive Postgraduate Diploma In General Management to the participants who
successfully complete all the requirements of this programme.
Eligibility
Candidates applying for One Year
General Management Programme must hold a minimum of three years Bachelor's
Degree from a recognized University in India/abroad in any discipline, be
employed in a full-time job, must have at least three years of relevant
managerial experience as on May 31, 2006 in an organisation of repute in the
public, private or nongovernmental sector after completing graduation.
Course
Content
All courses (compulsory and
optional) have been designed for executives with work experience. The programme
consists of 20 compulsory courses and 12 elective (optional) courses as shown
below. These will be taught in four terms in the year from June 2006 to
April/May 2007. Terms I and II have eight compulsory courses each. Term III has
four compulsory and four elective (optional) courses.
Term IV has eight electives. The electives are area-wise grouped into six
elective packages of six courses each. These are Finance, Marketing, Operations,
Information System, Human Resource Management & Organizational Behaviour and
Economics / Economics-Strategic Management. A participant will choose two
packages out of six. Thus, a participant will have two functional areas of
Management as their areas of concentration. All courses in an elective package
are compulsory.
The programme incorporates a group project, which will be initiated in the third
term and completed by the end of fourth term. The project will be based on live
problems from any organization and involves an important part of the learning
process.
Fees
The fees for each participant
will be Rs. 2 lakhs. This will include tuition fees and other infrastructural
necessities as required for an effective academic programme. For outstation
candidates the Institute will provide hostel accommodation. The hostel charges
would be separate.
