Programme
The experience across the globe
proves that civil services are crucial for shaping the growth trajectory of
nations. Today, when India is at a defining moment of its global positioning,
the need for sharpening the strategic and executing capabilities of the civil
servants gains utmost significance.
In recognition of this need, the
Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, and the Management
Development Institute, Gurgaon have designed a powerful programme - Post
Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management - which aims at building
the competence of civil servants to conceptualize, initiate, and lead change in
the sphere of policy-making and policy implementation.
Objectives

Provide global exposure for
benchmarking and developing excellence in various areas of action.
Develop the capability for
policy-formulation and its effective implementation.
Integrate the latest managerial
skills and concepts with the Indian Administrative context.
Eligibility
Group A Officers of Centre &
State Government
Age not more than 50 years - 53
years in case of SC & ST
Put in at least seven years of
Group A Service
Should not have undergone for 12
week or more training during five years in India and 2 week training in
preceding 2 years abroad
Fee
To be met by the respective cadre
controlling authorities
International Component to be met
by DoPT
Programme
Schedule
The first year of the diploma
programme includes 10 �
months full-time residential stint at MDI and a six-week term at the
George Mason University, Washington DC. During the second year, the
participants would return to their respective work locations but would continue
to work on a dissertation on a relevant topic of their interest. The Post
Graduate Diploma will be granted only when the dissertation is approved by the
thesis evaluation committee.
