Though India earned its freedom in 1947, true economic freedom started 44 years later with the adoption of new economic policy leading towards globalization. For the first fifty years of independence we have grown at the rate of 3.5% known as Hindu rate of growth while currently Indian Economy is growing at the rate of 8 % and a two digit growth is within our reach. In such a challenging growth rate it is essential to build in our country a platform to nurture its competitive advantage. India is known for its intellectual excellence when it comes to information technology. We believe that we are in the threshold of a revolution in the area of pharmaceuticals and healthcare. In the new era of Intellectual property rights commencing from Jan 2005, India is well poised to pharmaceutical research. To drive this revolution the pharmaceutical industry needs a strong base of young managers who shall combine the knowledge of Biosciences and medical sciences with that of management and legal skills. To enforce this, requires a unique Institution totally dedicated to pharmaceutical and healthcare Industry. A unique perspective is therefore called forth for an institution because it should not only provide a base, but it has to provide the foundation with a vision of contributing towards welfare and health of the Nation. Thus with this perspective IPHMR is different from other management institutions. This institution is built and nurtured by CMARC, its promoter known for its quality and unique service to the pharmaceutical industry for over 3 decades. IPHMR was christened by the industry stalwarts encompassing both Nationals and Multinationals and transnationals to contribute a distinctive vision clubbed with creativity in an effort to support the stated objective in a grand meet on December 18th 2003. IPHMR registered as non profit making organization, can be seen as one of the best sources for managerial talent in the context of pharmaceutical and healthcare management. In our first batch many of the students have come here with a decade of experience and all the students with a clear understanding of what the current requirement is in the pharmaceutical industry.
