Question 4 the day:
September 12, 2003
The question for the day is from the topic of Geometry.
- What is the measure of in radius of the triangle whose sides are 24, 7
and 25?
(1) |
12.5 |
|
|
(2) |
3 |
(3) |
6 |
|
|
(4) |
None of these |
Correct Answer - (2)
Solution:
We know that for any triangle, area of the triangle = r*s, where r is the in
radius and s is the semi perimeter
As the given triangle is a right angled triangle, area of the triangle =1/2 *
24 * 7 = 84 sq units.
S = semi perimeter =a+b+c / 2 = 24+7+25
/ 2 =28
Therefore, 84 = 28 * r
=> r = 84/28 = 3
