Mean
Compensation Package at TISS Final Placements Touches
'Six Figure' Mark
School of Management & Labor
Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) completed another phenomenal
round of final placements for its outgoing Batch 2006-08. Surpassing all
previous records, the mean compensation package touched the magical
"six figure" mark. The placements season began with the laterals in the last
week of December '07 while that for freshers ended in the first week of January
'08.
The trend this time leaned
towards consulting again, with the crme de la crme of the industry visiting
the campus. The KPMG, Ernst & Young, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Hewitt Associates
and Accentures of the world jostled with each for the small
batch of 42. The fact that 16 students of
the batch had already accepted Pre-Placement Offers from their
summers organizations and opted out of the Finals, did not make the recruiters'
job any easier.
The other regular recruiters with
TISS like Proctor & Gamble, HUL, ITC, Nokia, Tata Sons, Marico, Cadbury, Pepsi
and Nestle also vied for the best HR talent in the country. The BFSI sector was
well represented by Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Axis Bank, Lehman Brothers and
Fidelity. IT sector biggies like Wipro Technologies and IBM were also in
contention. A new entrant in the process was Bennett Colemann & Co. M & M Global
Leadership Program and RPG Group participated only in the lateral process.
With the talent crunch and demand
for HR talent going through the roof, placement packages at TISS followed suit:

With the new and bigger batch (60

junior batch enthused by recently concluded summer placements, the future is
definitely looking bright and sunny at TISS!
