Poseidon received an overwhelming
response from students across various B-schools including IIM Calcutta, IIFT
Delhi, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, NITIE Mumbai and Tech-Schools like IIT Kanpur,
IIT Delhi, etc., with over 50 entries. The students were given close to two
weeks to prepare and submit a Business Idea on the "Strategy Tata Indicom
should Employ to Increase its ARPU (Average Revenue Per Unit)". The best
Business Idea was selected on the basis of techno-commercial feasibility. Tata
Indicom, which sponsored the prizes, gifted a Samsung Duo (dual-SIM handset) and
a Plug-2-Surf Whiz (USB Modem) to each member of the winning team.
Speaking about the event, Mr.
Vineet Bhatia, Regional Head, North Hub, Tata Teleservices Ltd., said, "It
is our effort at Tata Indicom to connect to the youth not only as consumers but
to participate in their empowerment process as well. Poseidon is a platform for
students to showcase their entrepreneurial and managerial talent. The rigorous
competition ensures that participants sharpen their business acumen and expand
their knowledge frontiers. A business plan contest such as this enables the
youth to know more about the world around us and become the well-informed future
corporate leaders. A successful business model hinges on sustainable growth,
market feasibility, financial feasibility and operational feasibility."
He further added, "Organizing
such events is just a part of what we are looking at in the future in terms of
youth empowerment. Tata Teleservices will be looking forward to consistently
participate in such events on a much larger scale in the near future."
