IIM Kozhikode's
Mentorship Programme '08 Crosses Magical Figure of 1000 Mentees
The Mentorship Programme
launched by the Students' Council, IIM Kozhikode, crossed the magical figure of
1000 Mentees on 15th February 2008. The Mentorship Program was launched
online at http://mentor.iimklive.com on 9th January 2008,
with an aim to provide the IIM aspirants a rich platform to discuss, share and
get feedback on various issues and queries related with their preparations for
the second stage of CAT, which consists of group discussions and personal
interviews (GD/PI) of shortlisted candidates.
The CAT applicants who were
shortlisted by IIM-K for the GD/PI process were asked to register for the
programme. The unique idea of assigning personal mentors to each of the
registered users of the Mentorship Programme has been praised all over and has
found exceptional appreciation from the mentees. "The best part of the program
was that we have individual mentors who are willing to discuss issues on online
chat instead of asking for mails, making things faster and communication
better," pointed out one of the mentees.
All the mentors personally
undertook the grooming of the mentees assigned to them by sparing time
responding to numerous pings and telephone calls. "My mentors were very friendly
and helped calm my nerves both during preparation and on the big day. My
interview was at Kozhikode campus and my mentor had specifically come to meet me
there despite his busy class schedule and give me his last few words of advice.
This kind of commitment was amazing to see," remarked another mentee.
The programme, which has been a
part of students' portal launched by the Students' Council, IIM-K, has been a
runaway success. "We thought that this would be an ideal platform for students
to air their queries and clear any apprehensions regarding the GD/PI process. We
plan to improve the programme further in the future based on feedback received
from the aspirants," promised Gautam Bhatt, a Students' Council member.
