Annual Cultural
Festival 'Unmaad 2007' All Set to Rock IIM Bangalore
February 2-4, 2007
What do a stunt football-playing
troupe from Saudi Arabia, extreme X games BMX bikers, some of India's most
well-known DJs and the food and beverage managers from The Taj and The Leela
have in common with a B-school? Simple. Unmaad 2007.
'Unmaad', IIM Bangalore's
Annual Cultural Festival, is one of the largest, most popular and most
widely covered inter-college events in India. From its relatively humble
beginnings with events more or less confined to Bangalore colleges, Unmaad has
evolved today to a multi-million rupee, gigantic, national event. Slated to be
held over the weekend, February 2-4, at the IIM Bangalore's Bannerghatta Road
Campus, Unmaad will feature a diverse set of events non-stop over 72 hours,
including literary events, performing arts and fine arts.
Apart from the big-ticket
professional performances by Lucky Ali, Kailash Kher, Indian
Ocean and Junoon, that are expected to form an integral part of the
Unmaad 2007 experience, this year's edition also promises to have a variety of
workshops on things as wide-ranging as stunt football, stunt dancing, BMX
biking, cocktail mixing and DJing.
The international stunt
football team from Saudi Arabia is expected to strut their stuff and drop a
few pointers for potential Ronaldinhos and Beckhams among the Unmaad audience on
Friday, 2nd February. Along with the stunt football workshop will be the
exhilarating X-games pros from the world of BMX biking with their
gravity-defying moves and breath-taking, awe-inspiring stunts, all set to set
Unmaad on fire.
On Saturday, 3rd February,
leading DJs from India, including DJs Leon and Jasmeet from Athena's, Jeffrey's,
Nick's and Spinz's will conduct a walk-through for Unmaad participants on the
basics of DJing. For the complete pubbing experience, the food and beverage
managers from The Leela and The Taj hotels will also be hosting a workshop on
the fine art of mixing cocktails. The participants at the workshops will not
only get a chance to interact with the experts, but select short-listed
participants will also compete among themselves in the DJ Wars and the
Cocktail Wars events which will be held later that night at IIM Bangalore's
famed L Square.
Also during Unmaad, the Mr. &
Ms. Unmaad Personality Contest is slated to be judged by Miss Amrita
Patki, former Miss India Asia Pacific (2006) who will also be chief judge at
the Unmaad Ramp of Fire.
Registrations for both workshops
and other events are currently open and participants may contact IIM Bangalore
representatives or logon to the website - www.unmaad.com - for further
details.
Taking brand Unmaad all over
India this year will be Radio Mirchi and Channel V, two of the
principal media partners. Radio Mirchi will, in fact, be broadcasting for one
entire day straight from IIM Bangalore's campus - taking the excitement of
Unmaad all over Bangalore. Channel V is also expected to broadcast live from
Unmaad 2007 across the country. It is certain, then, that Unmaad fever is well
on its way again, bringing with it three days of Madness, Melodrama and Magic,
right here at IIM Bangalore.
