Post
Graduate Programme in Management: (PGP)
This
program is a two year, full time, residential program. The students
meeting the program requirements are awarded the Post Graduate
Diploma in Management. The PGP is designed to develop professional
managers with the strong conceptual fundamentals and skills
required to manage businesses of the future, while giving them
the vision to determine what the future will be.
The objectives of the program are to enable its graduates
to
Understand
the socio-economic, political, technological and ecological
environment of modern societies and their characteristic values
Acquire
the prevailing state-of-art knowledge and skills in the basic
disciplines and functional areas of management
Develop analytical and innovative attitudes and skills so as
to facilitate change and increase the effectiveness and efficiency
of organisational systems
Develop
values and proactive attitudes for societal well being
The
First Year academic work, spread over three terms, is a compulsory
package of 22 foundation (core) courses designed to provide
basic knowledge of concepts, tools and techniques in various
functional areas and relevant disciplines.
The two-month compulsory Summer Training in industrial and business
organisations follows the first year course work. The summer
training is aimed at providing exposure to the real life working
environment. Students are required to work on specific, time-bound
organisation related assignments.
The Second Year academic work, spread over three terms, comprises
two compulsory courses of integrative nature along with a package
of 15 elective courses of advanced and applied nature. These
provide students the opportunity to develop in depth understanding
and concentration in the areas of their special interest.
PGP
- Agri Business
The
two-year Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management
is a full �time residential course designed with the specific
objective of developing agribusiness leaders, entrepreneurs,
and intrapreneurs with a vision, competence and appropriate
attitude for promoting/ growing agribusiness and agro-based
enterprises with a strong international orientation.
Objectives:
The programme has been designed to enable the learners
to:
Understand
dynamics and complexities of the field of agribusiness in the
emerging global context;
Acquire
professional skills in using appropriate management tools and
techniques in the context of agribusiness; and
Strive
for excellence, commitment with positive attitude to work with
the farmers towards their economic upliftment.
Eligibility Criteria for Post Graduate Programs
The
candidate must hold a Bachelor�s Degree of any of the Universities
incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in
India or other educational institutions established by an Act
of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under
section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
The Bachelor�s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by
the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education
after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Candidates appearing for the final bachelor�s degree / equivalent
qualification examination can also apply. Such candidates,
if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally
only if they submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2006 from
the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute (issued on
or before June 30, 2006) stating that they have appeared for
the examination.The deadline for submission of marksheet and
the certificate is December 31, 2006.
Open University graduates must show proof of minimum three years
after class twelve and a certificate from the university equivalent
to a bachelors degree.
Diplomas like Hotel Management, Fashion Technology are not eligible
unless equivalent certificates to a three year university degree
are provided.
Foreign Students:
(A) Eligibility for Overseas candidate of Indian Origin
The
candidate must hold a Bachelor�s Degree of any of the Universities
incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in
India or other educational institutions established by an Act
of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under
section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification
recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
The Bachelor�s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by
the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education
after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
Presently
candidate has to be residing outside India, for a period of
at least one and a half year (i.e., for the period September
1, 2004 � February 28, 2006). GMAT has to be taken outside
India.
GMAT
score to be above 85 percentile rank.
Preferably
2 years work experience in a reputed organization, as on 31st
December 2005.
(B) Eligibility for Foreign Nationals
At
least a bachelors degree or equivalent after 10+2 year schooling
that is consistent with the 3-year bachelors degree as stipulated
in A. 1.
Application
forms should be routed through Ministry of External Affairs,
with an advance copy sent directly to Chairperson, Admissions.
GMAT
score to be above 85 percentile rank.
TOEFL
score will be required from the candidates whose medium of study
has not been English.
Preferably
2 years of experience in Academics/Industry as on 31st December
2005.
Admission Procedure
Admission
to the programme is through the Common Admission Test (CAT)
conducted jointly by the Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad,
Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow. Applications
for admission are invited in July and written admission Test
is conducted in November of the preceding year for the programme
commencing in end-June/beginning-July every year.
The selection procedure, besides taking into account the academic
achievements of the applicant, also aims at assessing his/her
potential for a management career. A multi-criteria selection
model incorporating scholastic achievements, work experience
and performance in written test, group discussion and personal
interview is used in selecting students for the programme.
Reservations
Twenty
two and a half per cent of the seats are reserved for Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates and 3% seats for persons
with disability in the form of low vision/blindness , hearing
impairment and locomotor disability/cerebral palsy who meet
the admission requirements.
Fees and Expenses
Yearly
expenses on tuition, computer use, room rent, board, teaching
material and other fees will be approximately Rs.1,50,000/-
per year. Personal expenses on travel, clothes, laundry etc
will be extra.

For
the first year :
7,800 (US $)

Financial Assistance
The
objective of the Institute's Financial Assistance Schemes is
to provide adequate financial aid opportunities, so that no
student is prevented from pursuing the programme due to financial

Fellow
Programme in Management: (FPM)
This
four-year program is proposed to provide the participants with
a thorough understanding of the micro-level issues of an organization
and the capability to relate them with the macro issues of the
industry and economy as a whole. The aim of the program is to
build scholars for Research and Educational Institutes capable
of taking up the role of think-tanks for Industry.
The FPM is unique in three key areas: the profile of the participants,
the curriculum and the level of interaction with other academic
institutes and organizations. Candidates will have to take a
qualifying test based on their experience in industry to be
accepted for the program. Participants will be a part of an
exchange program with premier B-Schools in India and abroad
and work on an overseas assignment as part of the program.
The FPM seeks candidates with strong academic background, preferably
with professional experience, and intellectual curiosity and
discipline needed for scholarship in management.
Eligibility
The
candidates for the programme require having Masters� degree
or its equivalent in any discipline. Bachelors in engineering
or technology with a first class and a minimum of one year of
work experience and those who possess professional qualifications
like CA, ICWA and CS with at least 55% marks are also eligible
for admission. The candidates must have scored a minimum
of 55 % marks in all their public examinations starting with
the secondary level. Candidates must not be more than 45
years as on 30th June, 2006.
Admission Procedure
Admission
process consists of a written test followed by a selection interview.
Candidates are required to take Common Admission Test (CAT)
which is common to both Post Graduate as well as Doctoral Program
of all the IIMs. Alternatively, they can take GATE, GRE
and JRF of UGC and CSIR.
Candidates who have already obtained a PGDM from any of the
IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale or equivalent
need not take CAT and can apply directly through the prescribed
FPM application form.
The short-listed candidates are called for interview for the
final selection.
NRIs and foreign candidates are considered for direct admission
based on their GMAT or GRE scores .
NRIs and foreign candidates are required to bear all the expenses
including the tuition fee. |
